Welcome!
I am so glad you are here. My name is Caitlin, and I am the steward of Samadhi Sagrada. Samadhi is the is the highest state of Yoga on the eight-fold path described by the ancient mystic Patanjali. It is a Sanskrit word meaning “to direct together.” In this state, the soul realizes it is much more than a conditioned body or personality construct and thus merges with the infinite cosmic consciousness. Sagrada is a Spanish word that means sacred. It embodies the living wisdom of many traditions. Samadhi Sagrada weaves together of the practice and philosophy of Yoga and the mystical traditions of shamanism. Through this union of Ancient Wisdom, Yoga Therapy, Thai Massage, and Astrology, our True Nature is revealed.
Like many, I had a troubled childhood that was colored by pain, shame, and programming. By the time I was 14, I was diagnosed with depression and prescribed antidepressants without much consideration into my lifestyle or what was going on at home. After being on antidepressants for much of my adolescence, I completely lost touch of my true essence and slipped into a pattern of alcohol and drug abuse to further numb out of my internal anguish. Even though I was deeply entrenched in addiction and a spiral of mental health issues, I knew that this was not my true self and that I was here for some greater purpose. That’s when Yoga intervened in my life.
A local Yoga studio called me to tell me I had a 10 pack of classes at their studio that was about to expire and that I should come in to use it. I had no recollection of buying the pass, but I decided to give it a try. Immediately after practicing yoga, I felt a shift in my state of being. I had more energy, clarity, connection and just felt better. I was hungry to learn more about this system of liberation. In 2014 I was guided to a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training that basically shifted my whole reality. I never had the intention of becoming a teacher, but the path had different plans for me. Six months later, I started teaching yoga.
Yoga continued to be my rock as I navigated my way through mental health struggles and addiction. Although I seemed to have found some stability, in 2016, I hit another rock bottom. I found myself in an abusive relationship that was shackled by addiction. As the relationship began to deteriorate, I was once again desperate for support and in dire need of profound healing. That’s when I was called to the medicine path to begin working with indigenous living wisdom traditions. I was guided to work with a community called the Paititi Institute based in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Paititi fuses together Jungian dreamwork analysis, Amazonian and Tibetan breathwork, Qi Gong, and master plant teachers to artfully create a system to realize the potential of the human spirit. The depth and integrity of their teachings reconnected me back to my true nature. As a result, I started making yearly pilgrimages to Peru, continuing to peel back all the hard layers of pain and trauma that were weighing me down.
Throughout this time, I walked the path of Yoga and the path of Shamanism as separate paths that both benefited me greatly. Then during a Washuma journey in Peru, the union point of the two paths was revealed to me through the words: Samadhi Sagrada. I took this little token of wisdom and let it gestate within me until 2023 when I stumbled across a 300-hour Yoga teacher training by the Kula Collective called Shamanic Awakening. This training nourished the little seedling of intention that is Samadhi Sagrada that is sprouting and taking root now. The intention of Samadhi Sagrada is to call upon these tools to support others in their mental health journey.
